DJ Yoda is a multi-award-winning hip-hop DJ and producer, headlining festivals and clubs around the world.
As one of the most celebrated and respected DJs in the UK, he has worked with classical composers to neuroscientists; brass bands to film directors; Dr Dre to Dame Evelyn Glennie; Banksy to Mark Ronson; BBC Radio 4 to the BFI, succesfully pushing the boundaries of every project he embarks upon.
In recent years DJ Yoda has refined his composing and song-writing style, evolving and maturing his sound. In 2015, his album ‘Breakfast of Champions’ saw DJ Yoda collaborating and producing with live musicians for the first time in his career. Building from this, his new release features the brightest and boldest emerging talent from the young British jazz and soul scene.
DJ Yoda’s latest release is a fusion of genres, inspired by soul, 90s jazz and hip-hop.
Featured artists include Joel Culpepper, whose distinctive style has seen him described as ‘the UK’s answer to Andre 3000 and Frank Ocean’, and Eva Lazarus, a firm festival favourite and celebrated vocalist/MC.
Recorded between DJ Yoda’s studio and the acclaimed Abbey Road, the collaborative project is influenced by Guru’s ‘Jazzmatazz’ and showcases some of the most exciting talent within their genres.
The album also features some of the most respected artists of their respective eras including British soul pioneer, Omar, founding members of the Native Tongues Collective, Jungle Brothers, and Boston-based legendary MC, Ed O.G.
